Dietary Aide RA

Waunakee Manor is a continuing care retirement community located across nine acres in the heart of Waunakee. We offer short term rehabilitation, independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care to our residents and allow them to age in their home among friends and family. Director of Nursing

We are currently looking for an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team!

The Director of Nursing manages the nursing department with the goal of providing a safe, homelike environment where our residents can achieve and maintain their fullest level of wellness and function. Utilizes sound clinical practices to maintain excellent quality care. Manages the clinical team and oversees resident health and wellness through regular resident monitoring and communication. Implement nursing policy and procedure and ensures smooth operation of the clinical department. Other relevant duties as may be required or assigned.
Qualified candidates should have experience in long term care (LTC), including Director or Assistant Director leadership experience. This exciting opportunity requires an experienced leader with the ability and energy to create a positive atmosphere for our customers and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice within the facility
- Ensuring continued adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations
- Management and oversight of all nursing staff
- Providing planning, organization, education, supervision, and evaluation of all services provided in the facility
- Ensuring that operation of the Nursing Department remains consistently within budget
- Experience with the applicable state Survey Rules & Regulations, Medicare and Medicaid
- Development and implementation of nursing policy and procedure
- Overseeing the hiring and continued employment of nursing staff
- Ensuring there is adequate nursing staff, and that the staff’s skills remain current
- Being knowledgeable of incidents at the facility
- Ensures the orientation and training of nursing services personnel.
- Manages the nursing department to maintain quality standards of care, and advise medical staff, department heads, and Administrator in matters related to nursing service.
- In the absence of the Administrator, assumes responsibility for the entire facility.
- Complete an individual service plan (ISP) within 30 days of admission and every six months thereafter (or with a change in condition)
- Conduct daily check-ins with residents; identify ongoing needs to maintain health and wellness
- Conduct wellness visits with residents’ families to ensure that all residents’ medical needs are met
- Track physician appointments and contact physicians as needed, acting as a liaison for all resident health services; document orders in residents’ charts
- Monitor all infections and accidents/incidents; ensure compliance with all infection control policies
- Monitor medication program including audits of records and procedures and staff training on proper procedures for medication passing
- Communicate any medication and/or treatment changes to caregivers/CNAs
- On a quarterly basis, review psychotropic medication needs
- Work with caregivers/CNAs to regularly assess skills and make recommendations for training opportunities
- Assist with OSHA compliance requirements for all employees
- Other duties as assigned
Education/ Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited school of nursing; valid and current nursing license in the state of Wisconsin in good standing
- 3 years year of nursing experience working with seniors; experience within an assisted living, memory care or other long-term care environment preferred
- Managerial experience preferred
- SNF experience preferred
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holiday rotations, and on-call rotations
- Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to connect with residents, families, and associates
- Strong customer service orientation to older adults; exhibit a caring and compassionate attitude
- Ability to make responsible choices and decisions that are in residents’ best interest
- Ability to problem-solve and communicate complex issues; ability to work collaboratively with all co-workers

Responsibilities:
- Accomplishes nursing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
- Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
